Are You Ready to join us?

How To Join

We welcome all interested applicants for full active membership whom are over the age of 18 and are residents of Alleghany County.  We also welcome junior member applicants ages 14 to 18 whom are residents of Alleghany County. 


The Alleghany County Rescue Squad usually meets on the second and fourth Mondays of every month, usually from 6 pm to 9 pm, at our squad base located at 61 Trojan Avenue, Sparta, Alleghany County, NC. 


The following outlines the steps involved in the application process:

  • Complete our Membership Application (Juniors have a different application)
  • Submit a criminal background check available from the Clerk of Court with your application (fees will be reimbursed upon vote of acceptance)
  • Appear before the Membership Committee 
  • Upon approval for membership by the Membership Committee, the applicant MUST attend three CONSECUTIVE meetings (i.e. business meeting - training - business or training - business - training)
  • Following the three meetings, each applicant will be presented to the entire membership for a vote of acceptance
  • A 3-month probationary period will be observed during which a rookie program must be completed. Upon completion of the 3-month period, a re-vote of acceptance will be conducted
  • When you become a member of Alleghany County Rescue Squad you MUST contribute 36 training hours to the organization per year (10 of these hours may be medical training if you hold an emergency medical certification such as EMT or Paramedic; remainder of the hours must be rescue related)
